The Foundation For International Rehabilitation, Research, and
Empowerment (FIRRE) is a national level voluntary organization, established for
promotion and empowerment of differently abled populace and registered (Reg: 114/2019) on March
29, 2019.
Our Vision is to be a unique social development organization which stands
for the marginalized and under privileged populace and place them into prosperity and lead those
to the mainstream of society thereby enhancing their quality of life for happier and worthy
living.
FIRRE is proud in its modus operandi of associating with other organizations and bridging the gap between Government systems, NGOs and other private organizations to enhance awareness, increase independence and empower person with disabilities. The beneficiaries also are not just people with different abilities but elderly, pregnant women, or any vulnerable section of society, whose empowerment activities, especially financial are under consideration with various corporate companies, similar to a microfinance model.
Rehabilitation has been defined as "the combined and coordinated use of medical,
social, educational, and vocational measures for training and retraining the individual to the
highest possible level of functional ability”. (WHO 1969)
“A set of measures that assist
individuals, who experience or are likely to experience disability, to achieve and maintain
optimal functioning in interaction with their environments". (WHO 2011) It involves
identification of a person’s problems and needs, relating the problems to relevant factors of
the person and the environment, defining rehabilitation goals, planning and implementing the
measures, and assessing the effects
Creative and systematic work undertaken to increase the stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humans, culture and society, and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new applications .
Measures designed to increase the degree of autonomy and
self-determination in people and in communities in order to enable them to represent their
interests in a responsible and selfdetermined way, acting on their own authority.
