Team FIRRE conducted hands-on workshop on “Assistive Technology for the Elderly” during EMPOWER 2024, a unique conference on Assistive Technology organized by IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai and National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), held at NISH, Thiruvananthapuram.

FIIRRE members Mr. Nirmal Kumar P B and Dr. Sindhu Vijayakumar attended the National Seminar - CRE (Continuing Rehabilitation Education) approved by RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) as Resource Persons on Evidence Based Rehabilitation Management, Dr. Sindhu Vijayakumar took class on the topic, “Dynamic Orthoses: Need of the hour” for special educators (BRC) and Prosthetists-Orthotists (P&Os) at Chaithanya Pastoral Centre, Kottayam. The event was organized by NIEPMD (National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities, Chennai) and IAAT (Indian Association of Assistive Technologists).

Participated in Research Innovation Demo Day at KINFRA Park, Kalamassery, Kochi, organized by Kerala Start Up Mission. Showcased cost effective, customizable Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) Device.
Conducted Special Camp to assess New Design of Functional Upper Limb Orthosis. Twenty persons with limited upper limb function were enrolled in a pilot clinical trial of functional elbow wrist hand orthosis (EWHO). The result of the clinical trial was submitted to the Certificate course in Assistive Technology Solutions, 2022 batch.
